WTS: 10TB Lacie and 4TB Netgear NAS units
I got a newer Synology so these two are on the chopping block:
LaCie 5Big Network - $450 shipped to conus, -$50 if you're local to the Flint, MI area and want to pick up (thing's heavy)
4x 2TB WD RE4 enterprise drives
1x 2TB WD Red nas drive
All of the drives have been replaced in the last 2-ish years
Dual gbit network interfaces, USB, and eSATA ports
Includes an extra hard drive tray...for activities?
Netgear Readynas Ultra4 - $250 shipped to conus, -$50 if you're local to the Flint, MI area and want to pick up
2x 2TB Seagate Green drives - older but still testing fine
2x open bays - air included at no extra charge!
dual gbit network interfaces and USBs
This one is pretty easy to root, and supported by the mfg. So if you want an itty bitty underpowered linux server have I got the thing for you (it's actually really handy for things like setting up automatic scripts and such) This one isn't rooted but I have another one I did and it worked well.
Hard drives in both have been pulled and tested; SMART long DSTs look good on all of the drives and benchmarks are all pretty much what they should be. I wouldn't expect any drive problems in the immediate future with any of them.
I don't know if beer is still in use but if it is I have all good reviews as "havoc3d" though I haven't really been active here in a few years. Any questions about the capabilities of either of these just let me know.
If anyone's interested I'd entertain trades. I could use a new video card; something better than my 7990. Maybe an iPad or Apple Watch. Possibly a current gen console, though I'm not much of a console gamer and more looking to start the christmas present fund.
