How Vital is Alienware Command...
Hello. I have an Alienware 15 R3, purchased directly from Dell over the holidays, so its only a few weeks old. I am getting periodic Windows notifications from Alienware AlienFX that "there was an error while Alien FX Controller was communicating with the computer." In addition, when I go into Alienware Command Center I get this message "The device you have selected is included in the current theme but AlienFX cannot detect this device on your system. Do you want to remove this device from the current theme?" I posted this issue on a couple online forums and the general consensus was to uninstall and reinstall latest version of AW Command Center from Dell's site.
So after making a Macrium Reflect system image backup, I followed all the instructions from Dell, uninstalled Command Center, deleted the instructed folders and registry keys, etc. After all of that, I got busy with work over the last couple days and haven't yet reinstalled Command Center. Now I've been using the laptop extensively (typing this on it) for several days now and haven't noticed one thing different about the machine. All the lights (keyboard, perimeter, alienhead) lights all come on as expected. Nothing has changed, laptop appears to be functioning normally (albeit I'm not getting the errors any longer).
So it got me wondering: what exactly is the benefit of reinstalling Command Center? I don't feel it necessary to ever change the colors or behavior of the lights. What other functionality or benefit will I be missing out on if I simply don't reinstall it? Obviously, I'm new to Alienware and really don't have full understanding on what Command Center brings to the table. That is why I'm asking.
Thanks for reading.
