Strange issues with P751TM1-G...
I've run into a couple weird issues with this laptop after putting it to sleep a few times in the same session:
- Can't adjust screen brightness using Fn+F8/Fn+F9 anymore
- The sleep button (Fn+F12), power button, and closing the lid stop working for putting it to sleep
- The laptop stops detecting the charger (thinks it's still plugged in when unplugged, and vice-versa)
#1 and #2 have easy workarounds, just adjust brightness in Windows and sleep from the Start Menu.
#3 is a bit more serious though. It doesn't throttle the CPU and GPU when running off battery because it thinks it's still plugged in (battery % drains but icon says "plugged in, not charging), which seems like an easy way to kill the battery. Imagine if I have a power outage while gaming and the laptop continues to run full-bore off battery power.
On the flip side, it also doesn't unthrottle the system if it thinks it's running off battery despite being plugged in.
I have to put the laptop to sleep and resume in order for it to correctly detect charger status every time I plug/unplug it.
These issues do not happen on a fresh boot, only after putting the laptop to sleep a few times.
Maybe this system's ACPI was designed for Windows 10 and doesn't play nice with Windows 7?
Or a BIOS/EC bug?
FWIW, I have FlexiCharger in BIOS disabled.
