Hp computer sometimes starts, or blinks caps/num-lock once. Any solutions?
A year ago I accidentally disconnected my DV6 HP laptop from the power cord. I tried turning it back on but the screen would stay black and caps/num lock would blink once every 4 seconds. According to HP's blinking codes this means "CPU not functional". After tens of times, I could not get my laptop to boot.
Last Friday I tried to fix it by reinserting BIOS battery, memory sticks, and hard drive. I got blank screen and blinking LEDs, I tried again...and it worked!
A few times throughout the weekend the computer would give me black screen and flashing LEDs, all I had to do was turning it off/on until it would boot. One time while booting I got a message about the BIOS settings, can't remember what exactly.
Today the laptop will not boot, even after trying dozens of times.
My question: What can the problem be?
I'm thinking the CMOS battery needs to be replaced.
It can't be "CPU not functional" as I able to get the laptop to work for ~100 during the past 4 days.
