Replacement speaker wire?

Sound Cards and Computer Audio - www.overclock.net
I've been having a curious problem with my left satellite lately - if I knock my desk hard enough, it will go silent. If I wait a minute or so and knock the desk again, it'll start working again. Reminds me of those old movies where a character hits a staticky tube TV and it starts working again

But anyways, since the problem seems to be either the speaker wire connecting the left satellite to the sub or the left satellite itself, and replacing the left satellite basically means replacing the whole speaker system, I'm thinking of getting some new speaker wire to do a cheap test first, but are there any differences in speaker wire that I should be aware of before I go shopping so I don't end up with something incompatible? Or is there basically 1 worldwide standard? '); }
