Overclocking secondary rig LGA 775 g41 chipset
Hi! I’m building a desktop pc to pair with my razer laptop for long downloads, cheap hdd storage and fot powering a 1080p screen to watch movies, music etc.. something like an htpc for processing power needed.
I found my old gaming pc and having tried how good windows 10 runs for drivers etc.. I wanted to use it and of course clock it (more than back then when it was a decent gaming pc)
The components are:
Cpu Intel 775 e6600 2.4Ghz Conroe (with both intel or giant zalman copper cooler)
Motherboard Asus p5g41t-m le (yeah not the best one but at least ddr3)
SIngle 2gb kingston ddr3 kvr1333.../2g
I’m having issue with stability, in particular I think related to ram.
I can’t get stable 3.0Ghz 333fsb 1333mhz ram (stock is 2.4Ghz 266fsb 1066 ram) but i do post fine with ram at lower mhz even at 340fsb and maybe more. It happens even increasing ram voltage to 1.570/1.6. I don’t know how to modify timings if necessary please help me,the motherboard says 1333mhz oc so why isn’t it ok? It supports 333fsb stock cpus.
Cpu is very cool, zalman big cooler is overkill for the dual core. I could get a luxury QX 775 chip 333fsb for cheap, would that overclock good? Or wasted with the g41 board?
