2-node S2D Cluster

Servers - www.overclock.net
I want to setup one of these clusters for a remote site but I'm wondering what is "Standard" for storing the Hypervisor OS now? I usually use SSDs in raid 1 for the Hypervisor Host, but I'm using 2x Dell 820s with 16 SAS Slots each that i want to use only for the s2d not for the Hypervisor OS. Do people just use 1 SSD now these days or is raid 1 still what to use?

If i want to have the 16 SAS slots available to the Host and run the Host Hypervisor OS off mirrored SSDs i need 2 Sata power connectors. I have 1 GP700 cable that i had in an old R710 that works with the 820 but i cant find another. Do people use USB Keys, 1 SSD or Mirror SSDs? Just kind of curious what the options are now these days.
