Do I Need to Adjust My Expectations Or Is There Something I Should Be Doing?

Air Cooling - www.overclock.net
The first iteration of my build held consistently below 40* (as seen on the motherboard display) and it only ever reached 40* during extended gaming runs. Then I upgraded my GPU (GTX 1060 6GB to a 1080 TI 11GB) with a PSU to match (CM550x to a RM850x) and that 40* figure jumped to about 60*.

As I understand it, that's completely acceptable. However, I want upgrade some cooling components and see if I could get a little closer to my previous running temps. I plan on overclocking my CPU (I5-6600k) to see if it can do a better job of keeping up with my new GPU. I did some upgrades, but I'm pretty much sitting at the same exact temperatures as before, with "lesser" cooling components. Am I doing something wrong or is this about right?

Cooling upgrade details:

Hyper EVO 212 to a Darkrock 3 Pro.

I also tried to up my fan game (from the OEM 2x AF140L intakes and 1x AF120L exhaust running off the motherboard) to the following:

1x RIING 14 intake on the front running off the motherboard.

1x RIING 14 intake on the front running directly off the PSU.

1x RIING 12 intake on the bottom running off my GPU.

1x RIING 12 exhaust on the back running off my motherboard.

1x AF140L on the top running off the motherboard.

1x AF140L on the top running off the GPU.

This is my current build (pictures):
