NAS for consoles

So over the past two years I've really taken to gaming as my go to stress reliever and I now own both an Xbox 1 and PS4. However, my gaming collection has increased while my HDD space has minified which I need to address and thats after replacing the hard drives in both consoles. With a few NASs already setup and extra space in my 53U I want to use the internals from an old gaming computer and build another NAS. I've seen attached USB external drives on both consoles and researched ways to back them up but I'm unable to find a solid solution. Has anyone come up with a good solution for transferring data from consoles to a NAS with minified performance issues? Has anyone used a
