Long Ethernet run problem

Cabling and Network Cards - Tech Support Forum - www.techsupportforum.com
Hello, I have installed a new piece of equipment that needs an internet connection. It is in a building roughly 600' from the nearest modem. I ran cat6 cable the full distance, about halfway I put in a Ethernet switch in a sealed box. I had no connection on the far end. We I go to the box and disconnect the switch, put my laptop on the cable connected to the modem I have connection, if I connect the switch back and use a short cable I have no connection again. I removed the switch and went to my modem, using short cables I connected the switch to my laptop and it works, but once I connect it at the halfway point I have nothing. I know the switch is good and the cables because I can connect them separately and everything works, just not all together where I need it. Any ideas?
