Help for networking noob

Internet Bandwidth & Networking Clinic - www.hardwarezone.com.sg - forums.hardwarezone.com.sg
Hi all,

I'm looking for a solution for Wifi deadspots in the master bedroom and bedroom 2. I am currently using the stock SingTel router, with a Asus RT-N12HP acting as a repeater. Been using this setup for a few years now, but with increasing number of devices in the house, I am looking for a upgrade.

Above is my floor plan, but I am not sure if I should simply replace the SingTel router for something like a Asus RT-AC86U, or if i should go for a mesh system. I'm hoping to keep this upgrade to about $300, with $400 as maximum.

In red is the location of the SingTel router and the fibre access point, and in blue is the current location of the repeater.

Thank you all!
