HDD failure after Overclocking i5 -4690k for the first time.

Hello all,

I am new to overclocking and this is my first attempt.

Here are the settings I changed in bios (MSI Gaming Z97 5):

Vcore: 1.35v

VCCIN Voltage: 1.7v

Ring Voltage: 1.1v

Core Ratio: 47

Ring Ratio: 35

EIST and Intel Turbo Boost: Enabled

CStates: Enabled, C7

Those are the only settings in my bios that I changed from default.

This overclock caused one of my HDD's to fail, I tried swapping the sata with another HDD and then that HDD started to fail. I asked around on reddit and someone told me I overclocked the PCI bus which was causing the SATA controller to crash. I don't think that is the case as according to CPU - Z my bus speed is 100 MHz and I did not touch the base clock in my bios settings, that remains at the default 100 MHz.
