Gaming computer as NAS as well?

Hey all, I have not seen anything that really answers this question.

I know that when I have my computer on I can access files on it from another computer.

However, I am wondering if it is more worth the money to have a dedicated NAS versus building my main computer for both duties.

My main computer is a Caselabs M8 so I have more than enough capacity for HDDs but with a GPU also running I am thinking that it will just suck too much power at idle.
