Best Future Proof Home Theater Option
I wanted to get some expert advice on what is the best option for making a dedicated Home Theater Set-up. I have looked at all of the media players and formats, etc but still am undecided on the best option. I have other devices that can stream online content so that isn't as much of a concern as the movie collection.
-I have over 300 movies/blu rays that I want to convert with no quality loss to a digital format (I must want the movie and audio-don't care about all the other stuff on them)
-I have a dedicated home theater which is where I would like to play the movies, but being able to watch them on other TVs would be nice
-All devices in my home are hardwired together (LAN) through my router
-I currently just play the disks with my PS4 which is fine but inconvenient. I want to have something that is more manageable and "future proof" as my collection grows and technology changes. Again I don't care if it is a dedicated computer or a media server of some type.
I am not sure on the best format (MKV, ISO, etc) and have looked at multiple options on the players available and am still unsure (ex. it says it will play mkv but is it 1:1 or a compressed version like the ps4). I have a large, upgradable NAS system so storage isn't a concern. Let's pretend that cost isn't a factor either
Any advice would be great!
