Asus MoBo BIOS Crash/Update from...

Mac Support - Tech Support Forum - www.techsupportforum.com
Hi,

I am posting on my friend's behalf who is facing a BIOS crash issue with his Asus p5kpl-am/ps motherboard. The issue has happened due to voltage fluctuations and running cpu with a weak battery in UPS. Many times his pc got shut down and restarted whenever the fluctuations happened.

Now, what I am trying to do after reading online is that I have downloaded the latest BIOS file from p5kplamp.rom and put that in a FAT32 formatted 16GB USB stick. When I plugin the USB and start the pc it reads the USB stick and then is stuck on, "Reading file p5kplamp.rom" and nothing happens after that. It keeps on showing that it is reading it.

If I put the same BIOS file in an 8GB USB stick, formatted the same way, then the system doesn't even recognize the USB stick and keeps on attempting to read it.

The start is stuck at black screen with Bad BIOS Checksum message and starting BIOS recovery and checking for floppy disk, cd rom drive and all those messages.

Please help me in resolving this issue of updating the BIOS.

Thank you in advance
