FX-8350 Vishera Delidded
Looking forward to seeing how delidding and experimenting with direct die cooling or IHS TIM improvements effects performance of this CPU.Please post your results here if you do this.Discuss your thoughts on this. '); }
FX 8350 - Curious Overheating Issue
I have become convinced that one of my most recent issues was caused by my cpu overheating when under heavy workload such as gaming. I don't have proof of this since I wasn't able to record temps, but it does make sense considering the heatsink doesn't have heatpipes and the contact area on the b...
Trimming AMD CPU
Hi guys so I run a machine shop for an engineering college. I wanted to see if a cpu could survive being machined. If it could it would make lapping, trueing, delidding, and any other physical modification a lot easier and more precise. Here are some early results.The subject is an AMD Sempron...
Removed the IHS from FX-8320, now I need to get a flat and clean core.
I wouldn't recommend anyone doing this.It was really hard to take the IHS off ;Middle process I thought to myself it was not worth, end of the process I was pretty sure that I had killed the cpu. Amazingly it managed to survive the abuse .The problem now is that I still have solder attache...
Do Sandy Bridge Pentiums have a soldered IHS?
So everything I could find on the internet says that the i5 and i7 Sandy Bridge CPUs have their IHS soldiered, but I've found nothing about the lower-end Sandy chips like the i3, Pentium, and Celeron.Now it's not unheard of to do both soldered and unsoldered for a specific CPU architecture; AM...
Permanent Damage Done to FX-8350?
Hi, I've been running the FX-8350 at about 60-65*C for about a week when playing games (browsing was about 35*C) as I accidentally bought a below-par cooler. I also did a burn test and got to 80*C before it throttled and wouldn't go any higher. It was only at this temperature for a few minut...
Lapped my FX-8350, 4.3GHz OC'ed temps lowered by 9°C
Lapping one's CPU and HSF is old-hat for many folks around here, it produces the kind of "oooh! shiny!" pictures and eye-candy appeal that makes it fun and rewarding to do (not too mention that it does happen to lower your operating temperatures as well, purely an unintended consequence of the la...
