LG 34UC79G or SAMSUNG LC32HG70. Need help deciding between these two!
I would like your thoughts/advice on deciding between the two aforementioned monitors (LG 34UC79G or SAMSUNG LC32HG70).
I use my pc mainly for FPS gaming but also do a little work, photo/video editing and surfing etc.. My current setup is as follows:
Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.00GHz
ASUS MAXIMUS VII RANGER motherboard
NVIDIA GTX 970 @1178MHz gpu & 1329MHz memory 4GB
16GB RAM @ 4000mhZ
+ horrible Samsung 32" FHD tv (which I want to replace)
Currently I can play the following games at 1080p 16:9, ultra settings with an average FPS of:
SNIPER ELITE 3 - 145 FPS
MIDDLE EARTH SHADOW OF MORDOR - 80 FPS
THE WITCHER 3 - 48 FPS
FAR CRY 4 - 63 FPS
What interests me most about these two monitors is the 144MHz refresh rate. I have never used a monitor for gaming faster than 60hz and I have been told the experience is amazing. I'm also very intrigued by the ultrawides! Unfortunately, I do not want to spend money upgrading both my PC/graphics card AND my monitor, but at the same time future proofing would be a smart move.
I had taken the decision to buy the SAMSUNG but, after reading up on the monitor, I discovered that if I downscale the resolution of the monitor to increase my FPS during gameplay, then the monitor will stick to 60hz, which is exactly what I want to avoid. I'm not sure if my current setup can handle the extra pixels of the SAMSUNG at its native resolution to take advantage of the 144Hz.
The SAMSUNG is currently priced at 825euros and I found a special deal on the LG for 650euros.
Any help and suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks! '); }
