Improving ping/latency in gaming
Hello, this thread is for those who want to share & discuss their settings or knowledge on how to improve ping/latency in online games.
First information I searched from net is this &
Tinker around & applied whatever settings is recommended on those article and found the best for my game w/c is Quake Champion and I was able to improved my ping from 150ms to 100ms w/c I guess is acceptable given the fact that no server is nowhere near my area. A 50ms reduction is not bad imo! So for those interested follow the steps below:
Step 1: Press WINDOW+R to open run.exe
Step 2: Type devmgmt.msc to open device manager
Step 3: Look for "Network adapter" then double click on it. It will show all adapters available in your pc
Step 4: Right click on the one that you are using to connect to internet, then a small window will appear.
Step 5: Go to advance tab then apply the ff settings:
Flow Control = Disabled
Interrupt Moderation = Disabled
Jumbo Frame = Disabled
All items with "offload" word on it = Disabled (with the exception of "Checksum offload")
Received Side Scaling = Enabled
EEE = Disabled
Received/Transmit Buffers = If you have large amount of ram memory, set it to maximum number.
Step 6: Follow the settings in this link .
Restart then see the result. Bonus, it improved TOR browser for me.
By the way please make a system restore point before you do anything in case the settings above made your internet speed worst, then you can just revert it back to previous settings.
