Monitor randomly losing signal

Monitors and Displays - www.overclock.net
Hello OCN,

A weird issue has cropped up recently. My primary monitor (asus vx 229), will sometimes at random go completely black, and then after a second or two regain signal.

So alright, i thought, the monitor is at fault, easy enough. But then during the holidays i took the monitor home, hooked it up to my laptop for 2 weeks, and the issue never occured once! (granted, i plugged it in the vga, so analog, while here its plugged in hdmi) Tried both hdmi plugs, and same thing.

So then naturally the 2nd thing is the GPU, a bit of an old beast, the HD 6870 so i figure it might be acting up. I had an rx 580 on the way, so i plug it in and what do you know, same issue, but worse.

Here is a video i recorded while typing this thread.

This was a fairly short one, sometimes it stays black for up to 2-3 seconds. What's new about it is that it flashes a bit of green now, it never used to do that before.

So im kind of lost for what's going on here, changed the gpu it does the same, and monitor doesnt do it on its own either, what could be at fault? Mobo? '); }
