HDD Cache with SSD for Secondary Drive?

Hard Drives & Storage - www.overclock.net
I'm my new build I'm using a ssd for my Windows and Programs, and I have a WD Black Hard drive for my documents. I was considering getting an additional SSD to use as a Cache for my HDD, but it seems from what I have been reading that the benefits really only are worth it if the HDD was my main boot drive. How accurate is this? I currently am using a HDD for my documents and with some of my larger documents it really is holding me up. So I'd prefer to get a small SSD for the Cache.

Also how does Caching work if I was to have two partitions on the HDD?
