Custom Loop (Kits OR à la carte) OR AIO
Yes, this is another AIO vs Custom Loop Question ><. My current specs are below and I am running my system at a stable 4.4GHZ.
8700K w/ Asus/Gigabyte Z370 Mobo
Nvidia 1080 GTX
Practical ~Midtower Case w/ Side Window and good air flow.
I see that the new 8700K is out and I was thinking of building a new system for my self and my old man who has a much older system. I currently have a 120MM AIO and I know that they can even be out preformed by the best mega-sized air coolers. I see some of the larger 240/280 coolers out preform the air coolers w/o having a huge brick hanging off or your mobo. They are also cheap, though I read they use cheaper components and you can't add GPUs to 99% of the AIO out there. I am looking at the CLC 280, due to some bench mark results, and I do like my EVGA PSU.
I noticed you can buy a GPU 1080 GTX w/ a water block on it for not much more money than a standard fan setup. This brings me into the Custom Loop Area. I read that the kits have everything you need, so you don't have to worry about mismatched parts. Though at the same time I live a few miles from FrozenCPU, which I can easily swing by on the way back from work, if I need something. Realistically I can't see myself draining the system more than once a year. I know GPUs can get hot, though will Liquid cooling really help or is it just more of a cool factor?
Do I really need a cooler for the GPU? I would like to see if I can push the 8700K to 5Ghz. '); }
