27" iMac 2010 Updates

Macintoshian Achaia - Ars Technica OpenForum - arstechnica.com
Just added 32gb ram to my mid 2010 27" i7 iMac

Even though officially only 16gb is the max. 32gb from Fry's worked out fine & it shows 32gb in use

Now I'm thinking of adding a 1tb ssd & keeping the existing 2tb hitachi hdd it came with & moving my os over the ssd & simply using the regular hdd for extra storage

I have a few questions about this approach

1. My regular hdd has bootcamp with Windows XP & OS X El Cap.

El Cap will move to the ssd.

Will i still be able to boot into windows for old games even though now its on a secondary hdd ?

or do i need to go in & edit boot.ini etc

2. Any downsides to this approach ?

3.If the regular hdd is not in use & simply unmounted (this will not be a fusion setup) then is there any noise ? fans etc ?

I would expect the system to run dead quiet
