One (1!) bad sector on NAS disk

Other Hardware - Ars Technica OpenForum - arstechnica.com
A week ago, my Synology NAS reported a couple of errors over several days on disk 3, stating that I/O errors occurred, but that after several retries the disk was now "working normally".

I couldn't do anything about it, as I was away.

So far the error did not repeat, and the monthly status report indicated that all disks were functioning normally, and that disk 3 has 1 bad sector.

Now I'm wondering if I should replace the disk anyway (I have a spare one available), but as the disk is still working I would probably not be able to get an exchange under warranty for one bad sector. All the disks in my NAS are Western Digital WD4000F9YZ (Se series) and are only 6 months old.

Funnily enough, in my second NAS of almost 2 years, I have WD disks Red series running without any problems.

What would you do?
