should a VPS' public IP be a /32?

Networking Matrix - Ars Technica OpenForum - arstechnica.com
Title says it all, really. My VPS provider hands me a /32 via DHCP but some software (FreeIPA) complains about that. I've switched to manual IP addressing and figured out a different netmask from the gateway they hand me, and FreeIPA is not complaining, but I wonder if I should bug them to change the DHCP config they are pushing.
