RT-N66W repeatedly dropping WiFi connection
Hello Ars! I'm hoping to get some help with a problem I've been having with an Asus RT-N66W router I'm working with. Any insights you could provide would be very helpful at this point.
We've been having multiple instances where the network connection drops - like multiple times per day.
I've started keeping a window open with a continuous ping to the gateway IP so that when other people in the office say they've lost Internet, I can check to see if it's the router or not.
Just today, for example, we lost connection and we weren't able to ping the gateway. Then I power cycled the router for 30 seconds, and the issue went away. Then it happened again probably less than an hour later. Again, pings to the gateway were resulting in no response.
I've checked to make sure I have the latest firmware from Asus installed, which I do.
After the most recent incident, I checked the router's logs, and here are the last two entries (I assume) from before I performed the power cycle:
Apr 19 09:46:30 crond: time disparity of 903884 minutes detected
Apr 19 10:00:16 disk_monitor: Got SIGALRM...
Currently basically everyone in the office is on WiFi, but I can also connect a computer via Ethernet to test if needed. I'm not sure how likely it may be that the wireless would drop but Ethernet would not....?
Any ideas what may be causing this issue / how to fix it?
Please let me know if I need to provide any other information.
