When should we expect Intel to fix Meltdown in hardware?

CPU & Motherboard Technologia - Ars Technica OpenForum - arstechnica.com
I'm considering a new build, I've been considering it for a long time now really. I was about ready to pull the trigger before Christmas but ended up in the hospital for a week instead of being able to plan for the holidays (everything is fine now). It didn't help that Intel's processors in the price range I was looking at were mostly sold out.

In a way I'm glad, as I would have been pissed to have purchased a brand-new processor with the Meltdown bug in it. Yes, I know, they say new processors aren't effected as much but it's still a hardware bug.

My question is, when should I expect to see Intel having fixed it in hardware? If I want to wait, am I going to be waiting a year? 2? 5? more? Are they even going to fix it?

There's a lot of other considerations on what I'm looking at, I just want to know how long I should expect to wait for Intel to fix this.

Thank you.
