And Now DLNA Stops Everything

Networking, Media Servers & Content Streaming - www.avsforum.com
High Def TV came out around '01 or so. Thing was there was no way to record programs. But the PC world quickly came to the rescue. There were MYHD cards, Fusion cards/USB boxes, the HDHomerun lan box and the Hauppauge HD PVR. I wrote a program to set up recording schedules to all these device. When a friend became aware of it he told me to post it in AVSFORUM. Here: PlayList_Manager & Record_This

Then a couple of years ago my video PC broke and I couldn't get it back up. I quickly opted for DirecTVs DVR option. But I still had maybe a hundred or more video files on drives that I wanted to see. So finally/recently I replaced the Video PC, moved the drives over and all the files were there. I use the MYHD program to play files recorded with the MYHD card. I used an HDX 1000 to play everything else. But when I tried to turn on the HDX 1000 it dies while booting. I've posted/started a couple of threads on trying to bring it back to life to no avail. It was suggested that I get a DVD/Blu Ray player as most all have streaming capability. So I say in a thread that I think I'll get a Sony S1700. Then I'm told that it probably wont see/play the files. WTH!!!!!! Yeah, there is now something called DLNA and all streaming boxes filter what they see with DLNA eyes. And for 10 or 12 years I've happily recorded all TV programming and watched via those two boxes, MYHD and HDX.

So, please, someone tell me there is a simple, not expensive box that will see and play the files I have spread across my XP home network.
