Desktop keeps on restarting when trying to shut down

Components Forum - www.tomshardware.co.uk
Hello, I'm having a problem recently were my Windows 8 desktop keeps on restarting as soon as I attempt to shut it down from Windows 8. I click on shutdown in windows 8, the usual blue screen pops up saying "Windows is shutting down", and my monitor and the other peripherals turn off, all as usual. I then here the sound that my desktop usually makes when it's about to shut down, but instead of shutting down, my monitor and other peripherals come back on and the loading screen comes up as normal followed by Windows 8. Does anyone know what is going on here? This computer is fairly new by the way and I'm not having any other difficulties.
