Questions about Xeon E3-1270 v6 for home file/media server and camera
I have a chance to get a Xeon E3-1270 v6 for a home file/media server and for recording camera(Blue Iris).
My logic for Xeon for additional 'safety' from ECC... please let's not degenerate this thread into merits of ECC.
The other part for Xeon is business class 'features' for motherboards such as 10GBe networking on board, etc. My home network is setup for 10GBe.
For the home file and media server side, is there a downfall to the E3-1270?
My understanding is Blue Iris and similar recording software make use of Intel QuickSync which the E3-1270 doesn't have. I haven't researched the quality of QuickSync but I recall Sandy Bridge was pretty bad. Is this still the case? Is it worth considering in my case?(go with E3-1275)
'Disclosure': I get VERY good deals on my Intel processors so that is all I am considering.
