Best software for organising and displaying photos on Mac

Mac Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review - forums.dpreview.com
For some years I have used Lightroom as my photo editor but have liked iPhoto for storing my photos as Events and displaying them. So I export my edited photos from LR to the Pictures folder on the Mac, where they are stored by year and event, and then import them into iPhoto, also by Event. Conscious that iPhoto may not continue to be supported in the longer term, I have tried the new Photos program but was very frustrated that the name I have attached to each photo cannot be displayed without laboriously re-titling thousands of photos.

I am therefore wondering whether to give up on the Apple photo software and use LR both for editing and organising my photos in future. If I do this, however, I would presumably lose the ability to look at my photo library on my iPad.

There doesn't appear to be a perfect solution, but I would be interested to hear what approach other forum members use.
